Road collapses under vehicle, killing man on Christmas Day

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said an 81-year-old man died of injuries he received in a motor vehicle accident on the Content Gap main road in St Andrew on Tuesday, December 25.

He is Winston Walker from Bronx in New York, USA, as well as Content Gap in Mavis Bank, St. Andrew.

The JCF said: “Reports from the Mavis Bank Police are that, about 6:30pm, Walker was driving his Suzuki Vitara when he stopped to give way to another motorist.

“While waiting to move, the road collapsed, resulting in him going over a precipice. He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

Investigations are ongoing.
