Police chief offers support after suspected suicide of senior cop

Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson has found it necessary to publicly remind members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) that they will be punished for unprofessional conduct.

He emphasized that unprofessional behaviour is unacceptable, and officers must avoid any form of abuse of authority when dealing with the public.

The commissioner said they must not make threats, intimidate or harass anyone, or abuse their authority or their use of force.

He noted that, in keeping with the need to enhance public safety and to partner with citizens for safer communities, the professional police officer has a sworn duty to serve, protect and reassure all members of society.

The commissioner, in the meantime, reminded members of the public of their right to file complaints about the police in instances where they experience unprofessional conduct. They can call the Inspectorate of Constabulary at 876-906-5325 or 876-754-8217.
