LINSTEAD: Promoters hosting event to help colleague hit by death and fire

Entertainment promoters in and around Linstead, St Catherine, are appealing for persons to support an event to be held at The Deck (Tip Top Plaza) in Linstead on Sunday, September 15, to raise funds for a fellow party promoter and taxi operator, Kirk Douse.

Douse, whose birthday will be on Sunday, lost his house in a fire on September 8 while he was busy preparing to bury his mother, Rescella Douse, on Saturday, September 14.

The fundraiser will run from mid-day until 6PM, considering the ongoing state of public emergency in St Catherine.

One of the lead organizers, Akeem Addley, better known as Street Boss, told The Beacon that there will be pulsating music for patrons to soak up, as well as a variety of scrumptious meals and drinks to be purchased.

He said it is not the first time that Linstead event promoters are reaching out to a colleague whose house is destroyed by fire, adding that the two previous events for separate persons were successful.

Street Boss noted that it is a pleasure to help someone in need, adding that no one is immune to misfortune.

“It feels great to help out a brother because nobody knows what tomorrow may bring; me don’t know my six o’clock. It can reach a point where I need someone to assist me too. I have to push out the 100 percent effort to make sure Douse get back comfortable again. Definitely, it is coming from my heart,” Street Boss said.

He noted that other main organizers include operators of The Deck as well as Stardom Printry.

Persons who seriously want to contribute outside the party setting can contract Street Boss or message The Beacon for Douse’s telephone number.

Douse, in the meantime, expressed gratitude for the assistance in this extraordinarily difficult time.
