Bell scores big at Bellas Gate
June 28, 2018Head Girl at Bellas Gate Primary School near Old Harbour in St Catherine, Jinelle Bell, is among 1000 students who received national awards this month for their accomplishment in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT).
“I feel proud and happy knowing that I am the overall top performer and top girl [at my school],” said the 11-year-old aspiring pediatrician.
“You can expect great achievements from me in high school,” she added.
Jinelle, who will attend St Catherine High School in Spanish Town, scored a 96.2 percent average.
Her teacher, Marusha Auld, is among persons who contributed to the successful GSAT effort.
That effort yielded a 93 percent in Mathematics, 98 percent in Science, 100 percent in Communication Task, 93 percent in Social Studies, and 97 percent in Language Arts.
Jinelle’s parents, Karen Douglas and Derrick Bell, are proud of their daughter’s accomplishment.
“I am feeling ecstatic and overwhelmed with joy,” the mother said, adding that both parents have been highly supportive of Jinelle.
They expect other big things from her. “Now that she will be attending high school, I expect her to continue to do her best and to put God first,” the mother said. “Jinelle has always been an excellent performer.”
