A licensed firearm holder is at hospital in critical condition after he challenged three would-be robbers in a shootout, killing all of them.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the attempted robbery took place on a premises at Port Henderson in Portmore, St Catherine, last night, March 13.
It further stated that law-enforcers seized one Berretta 9 millimetre pistol with a magazine containing seventeen 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition.
The JCF said: “Reports from the Portmore Police are that, about 9:15pm, the licensed firearm holder drove into the premises when he was attacked by three armed men who opened fire hitting him. The licensed firearm holder returned gunfire and the assailants were shot.
“The police were alerted and all four persons were taken to hospital where the gunmen were pronounced dead and the licensed firearm holder admitted in serious condition,” added the JCF, which noted that investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, the JCF gave the following descriptions of the three gunmen, whose names are yet to be ascertained:
- One of the slain gunmen is of dark complexion, stout build, about 6 feet, and appears to be in his late 20s. He sports low-cut hairstyle, and was clad in yellow shirt, blue jeans, and black slippers.
- Another of the gunmen appears to be in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and was clad in stone-washed jeans, black T-shirt, green jacket, and black Jordan sneakers. He also had a low haircut.
- The other gunman is in his mid-20s, and is 5 feet nine inches tall. He was clad in red shorts, black T-shirt, and he sports a low-cut hairstyle.
