Slain robbers identified | one was on bail for murder

While disclosing that all three would-be robbers shot dead by a licensed firearm holder in Portmore have been identified, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said it has found out that one of the men was charged for murder.

He is 30-year-old Isha Tomblin from Daniel Circle in Portmore, St Catherine.

The JCF said: “According to checks by the St Catherine South Criminal Investigations Branch, Tomblin was charged for the December 2009 murder of Leroy Beckford, and was reporting on condition of bail at the time of his death.”

Police previously stated that, on Boxing Day 2009, the body of 19-year-old Beckford, also called Butter, was found after residents of his community heard explosions and called the cops. He lived at Portmore Lane, St Catherine.

Meanwhile, the JCF stated that the other two would-be robbers shot dead have been identified as 31-year-old mechanic Damion Noyon from McArthur Avenue in Kingston 3, and 28-year-old Marvin McPherson from Old Harbour Bay in St Catherine and Clarendon addresses.

A licensed firearm holder, about 9:15PM on March 13, fatally shot the three would-be robbers who shot at him when he drove into a premises on Port Henderson Road in Portmore.

The licensed firearm holder returned gunfire.

The police were alerted and all four persons were taken to hospital where the gunmen were pronounced dead and the licensed firearm holder admitted.

A Beretta 9 millimetre pistol and seventeen 9 millimetre cartridges were seized in the incident, the JCF further said, adding that investigations are continuing.
