US$35M worth of cocaine found in St Thomas
July 31, 2019The Jamaica Defence Force made a massive cocaine seizure about 60 miles south-east of Morant Point in St Thomas yesterday, July 30.
The drug, which weighs more than 1,193.2 kilograms, was handed over to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which noted that the cocaine has a value of approximately US$35 million.
The JCF, in disclosing the weight of the drug, said soldiers found it during an anti-narcotics operation.
It added: “Reports are that, about 5:45AM, the security forces removed 50 bales containing 998 parcels of white substance resembling cocaine. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.”
The Narcotics Police are investigating.
