Update: Cop charged for robbery in Portland

A police constable, Ramone Walker, has been charged for the robbery of a Portland couple that was returning from a party on Monday, July 16.

He was on suspension prior to the incident that happened at Forte district, said the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

Walker was stationed in St Thomas.

He has been charged with Assault at Common-Law and Robbery with Aggravation.

He is scheduled to appear in the Portland Parish Court on Friday, July 27.

The JCF said: “Reports are that, about 3:15am, the couple was allegedly held up by four men who robbed them of JA$700,000.

“As the search continues for the other suspected robbers, an appeal is being made for residents to share any information that can assist investigators by contacting the Manchioneal Police at 876-993-8061 or 876-783-0708, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station,” added the JCF.
