Taximan dead, suspect wounded in robbery

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a suspect is in custody following the murder of a taxi operator during a robbery on Richmond main road in Christiana, Manchester, yesterday, June 3.

The deceased is 38-year-old Romeo Fuller from Sedburgh district in Christiana, Manchester.

The JCF said: “Reports from the Christiana Police are that, about 8:30PM, Fuller was driving a taxi with four passengers aboard when two male passengers proceeded to rob him and the other occupants of the vehicle.

“During the robbery, shots were fired and Fuller and one of the [suspected] robbers were shot. They were taken to hospital where Fuller died while being treated,” added the JCF.

It stated that the suspect was identified at hospital and subsequently arrested.

The other occupants of the taxi were not harmed.
