Swimming teacher reportedly drowns in Negril

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said 69-year-old scuba diving instructor Martine Cuggia is suspected to have drowned at sea on Monday, February 11.

She is from Boul Labelle in St Therese, Canada; and West End in Negril, Westmoreland.

The JCF said: “Reports from the Negril Police are that, about midday, Cuggia was conducting swimming lessons when she allegedly got into difficulties and drowned. The police were alerted and she was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.”

Investigations are continuing, the JCF added.
