PHOTO OF THE DAY: A typical ‘sidewalk’ in Linstead

It is an indictment on local planners that the town of Linstead in St Catherine has virtually no proper sidewalk. People who are wheelchair-bound literally can’t use it!

It is no less an indictment on law-enforcers that the few ‘sidewalks’ are overtaken by vendors – Christmas season or not.

The ‘sidewalk’ pictured above was paved recently. Since then, it is often taken over by vendors, leaving motorists and commuters to jostle for a space on the roadway.

The Beacon yesterday saw law enforcers jostling too – totally ignoring the vendors.

Meanwhile, in the photos below, some ‘sidewalks’ have been blocked with garbage for days.
