The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said 10 persons – one of whom is wanted for murder – are still in custody following their arrest during a joint police/military operation in August Town, St Andrew, today, November 1.

The operation comes amid a flare-up of gang violence in the community, resulting in the loss of lives. In the two latest incidents on October 25, gunmen murdered 39-year-old Damion Ball from Goldsmith Villa and 25-year-old Carlile Grant from Barrett Drive.

Elaborating on how the operations unfolded today, the JCF stated that, about 4am, the security forces executed 36 search warrants in the following communities: Bedward Gardens, May Lane, Jungle 12, Goldsmith Villa and Hermitage.

“This led to the seizure of seven 5.56 rounds rounds of ammunition and one 7.62 round of ammunition. During the operation, 66 persons were detained. Nine of them were identified as persons of interest in ongoing investigations, while one man was identified as wanted in a case of murder. The processing of the detainees continues,” added the JCF.
