More ganja seized in Portland

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a team of officers assigned to the Portland Police Division seized 950 pounds of ganja during an operation at Norwich in Portland yesterday, February 15.

It said: “Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that, about 1pm, lawmen were in the area when a premises was searched and 15 bags containing 950 pounds of ganja was seen inside a one-bedroom board dwelling. The illicit drug was subsequently seized and has an estimated street value of JMD4.7 million.”

No one was arrested in relation to that seizure, the JCF said, adding that investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, on February 13, Portland police seized approximately 300 pounds of ganja at White River district in the parish. The JCF said it has an estimated street value of JMD1.2 million and no one was arrested.
