Detectives said they recovered a gun from one of two men nabbed shortly after the murder of a 22-year-old man inside Mandeville market during the busy Christmas eve shopping.

The deceased is Richard Howard, otherwise called ‘Richie’, from Old England and Grey Ground in Manchester.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said: “Reports are that, about 2:55pm, Howard was inside the Mandeville market when two men approached him and opened fire, hitting him.

“His attackers were quickly held by a team of officers and searched. The weapon – a Springfield pistol with a magazine containing twelve 9 millimetre cartridges – was taken from one of the men,” added the JCF.

It said the identities of the suspects are being withheld, pending further investigations.
