Trishawna Eastwood is a single mother who relocated a few years ago to Lluidas Vale in St Catherine, not far from where that parish meets Clarendon.

Her 11 year-old daughter, Rihanna Eastwood, has performed superbly in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT), amassing an average of 94.4 percent.

“I am ecstatic, superb, proud,” the mother declared.

Her jubilation is justified.

Rihanna has scored 100 percent in Communication Task, 88 percent in Language Arts, 93 percent in Math, 93 percent in Social Studies, and 98 percent in Science.

The Lluidas Vale Primary School Head Girl is clearly up to something.

“I want to become a scientist because I want to invent things that can help mankind,” she declared to Jamaica Beacon. “I feel very happy about my GSAT performance.”

Rihanna also piled praises on her mentors, including her ‘very helpful’ GSAT teacher Kadie Sinclair.

She promised that, when she sets foot in Ardenne High School in September, she will not divert from the current path of excellence.

Her mother is convinced.

“Rihanna is ‘a book nerd’. She loves her book, she loves reading and is very focused and determined,” the mother asserted. “She also has leadership qualities and she is always trying to help other students.”

The mother told Jamaica Beacon that she is motivated by the fact that her daughter has remained a top student, despite having to relocate from Spanish Town to Lluidas Vale.

She noted that Rhianna first attended Ensom City Early Childhood Development Centre, then Eltham Park Primary in Spanish Town, and eventually Lluidas Vale Primary.

“She has managed the transitions well,” the mother said. “I have been 100 percent behind her from day one. I am a single mom; it’s me and her all along. I am very happy that she is still doing well.”
