The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said its Narcotics Police continue to interrupt the movement of illicit drugs with their latest seizure of 100 pounds of ganja and 53 pounds of cocaine in two separate incidents on Tuesday, February 12.

It said the first find took place about 11:30am at the Norman Manley International Airport during a security screening of a shipment of ground provisions.

“A detailed check of the shipment revealed the cocaine concealed among the goods. Four persons were taken into custody in connection with this find. The cocaine seized has an estimated street value of JMD26 million,” the JCF said.

It added that, in relation to the second incident, law enforcers were alerted about 12:30pm after anomalies were found in a shipment of cake mix and tarpaulins at a shipping agency on Hagley Park Road, Kingston 11.

“Checks revealed approximately 100 pounds of compressed ganja. No one was arrested in connection with this seizure. The ganja has an estimated street value of JMD400,000,” the JCF said, adding that anyone with information about this seizure should contact the Narcotics Police at (876) 923- 5729, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
