Epicentre of minor quake was near Guy’s Hill

The Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies said the epicentre of the quake felt this morning, August 22, was in St Ann, near that parish’s border with St Catherine.

It was approximately 4 kilometres northwest of Guys Hills in St Catherine, the Unit added.

It further stated that the ‘minor’ earthquake, which took place at 6:45AM, had a magnitude of 4.2 and a focal depth of 15.1 kilometres.

It was felt in a number of parishes including Manchester, St Catherine, Clarendon, St Thomas, St Mary, Manchester, St Elizabeth, Portland, Kingston and St Andrew.
