Beaches and rivers to re-open

June 6, 2020 0 By Horace Mills

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said people in Jamaica will again be allowed to access beaches and rivers, starting Sunday, June 7.

He, during a virtual press conference yesterday, stated that the order will be in effect until June 30, 2020.

The prime minister noted that access will be allowed at specific times and with specific guidelines and control measures.

Meanwhile, Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie said the beaches will open from 6AM to 6PM, but only for the purposes of swimming and exercising.

Rivers will be allowed to operate from 6AM to 8PM.

McKenzie said no parties are allowed and social distancing must be observed.

Water attractions are to remain closed as they are not covered under the order.

Beaches and rivers were closed to help minimize the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
