A second female child has been found in bushes murdered within two weeks.
In relation to the latter discovery, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the decomposing body of 11-year-old Trisha Morris was found in her community of Woodland district, Hanover, yesterday, April 30.
It explained: “Detectives from the Sandy Bay Police Station reported that Trisha was last seen Saturday, April 28, and was subsequently reported missing on April 29. An investigation was launched and, about 10AM, residents saw the body of Trisha and alerted the police.
“On arrival of lawmen, the decomposing body was seen and removed to the morgue pending a post mortem examination,” added the JCF.
It stated that one man is in police custody in relation to the murder of the Watford Hill Primary School student, who The Beacon understands was sexually abused by her killer. She had left home for church on the day her relatives last saw her alive.
Although the JCF is confirming that Trisha was reported missing on April 29, no public alert about the child’s disappearance was made.
Meanwhile, in the other incident also in April, the body of eight-year-old Shantae Skyers from Sterling Castle Heights in St Andrew was found in bushes in her parish. Skyers went missing on April 11 and was found murdered on April 16.
