After a few months of relative calm, the community of August Town in St Andrew has erupted with gun violence again, due to what police believe to be an ongoing gang feud.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which said it has heighten presence in the area, disclosed that two persons were shot dead in separate incidents this morning, October 26.

Another person, who was wounded in one of the gun attacks, is in hospital.

“Citizens are being asked to remain calm as the police work to restore order in the community,” the JCF said.

It added: “Information received is that, about 5:35am, a police team was processing a murder scene at Princess Alice Drive.

“While on that scene, the police were alerted to another shooting incident on Barrett Drive…where two persons were shot about 8:35am. One of the persons has since succumbed; the other is being treated at the hospital. Investigators theorize that these incidents stem from an ongoing gang feud in the area,” the JCF further said.
