People stood in unusually constant queues outside automated banking machines (ABMs) and money transfer agencies in Linstead, St Catherine, for several hours yesterday – in the broiling sun and otherwise.
Some money transfer agencies were packed up to 8pm when they would usually be closed.
Meanwhile, a number of people, by sundown, were heard complaining about technical issues and a shortage of cash at some outlets.
Jamaicans will, on Monday (December 24), participate in their busiest shopping day of the year – Grand Market. At that time, the rush for cash is expected to intensify – not only in Linstead, but across the island.
We want to hear from Jamaicans at home or abroad who have displayed resilience on the job or otherwise despite being impacted directly by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID). WhatsApp (876-305-4574) or email email@example.com.
