The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said it is yet again saddened by the death of a police officer in a motor vehicle crash.

Constable Clive Wedderburn, 33, died of injuries he received in a motor vehicle accident along the May Pen leg of the PJ Patterson Highway in Clarendon today, April 23.

He lived at New Harbour Village, Phase II, in Old Harbour, St Catherine, but was assigned to the Clarendon Division.

The JCF said: “Reports are that, about 12:05AM, Wedderburn was driving a Toyota Corolla motor car in an easterly direction, when he allegedly collided in the back of a motor truck. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

Investigations are continuing, the JCF added.

Meanwhile, a few hours before daybreak on April 16 this year, another police constable, Ramone Smith, died when the vehicle he was driving crashed in the back of a motor truck. He is from Linstead in St Catherine.

His girlfriend, Vanessa Johnson, also died in the incident, which happened on Dam Head main road in St Catherine – just before entering Bog Walk Gorge from the Spanish Town side.
