Police are investigating the circumstances under which a bus owned by the government’s Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) allegedly killed a male child on Friday (June 15) on the Gregory Park main road in Portmore, St Catherine.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said reports are that, about 7:50am, the child was on a public passenger bus when he allegedly fell from the rear door of the vehicle, and was ran over by the rear wheel of the said vehicle.

The police were summoned and the child taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the child, who is believed to be about 10 years old, has not yet been identified.

The driver of the motor vehicle was warned for prosecution, added the JCF, which promised to provide further information.
