The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said residents found the decomposing body of an unidentified woman hanging from a tree in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, on Wednesday, December 5.

Tests will be undertaken to ascertain the identity of the deceased, but it is suspected to be 48-year-old photographer Barbara Findley, who has been missing since Thursday, November 29.

Findley, who is pictured above, is from Beadles Drive at Santa Cruz in St Elizabeth, as well as Lupino Count in the Lambeth Walk area of Kensington in London.

The JCF said the body is of dark complexion, slim build, about 165 centimetres (5 feet 5 inches) long, and was clad in a black spaghetti strap blouse.

It added: “Reports from the Santa Cruz Police are that, about 1pm, residents smelled a foul odour and went to investigate. They stumbled upon the body hanging by a rope from a tree. The police were summoned, the scene processed and the body removed to the morgue pending a post mortem examination.”

The JCF, in the meantime, said anyone with information that can assist in the investigation should contact the Santa Cruz Police at 876-966-2289, 119 police emergency number or the nearest police station.
