A team of officers arrested and charged a man after seizing a firearm on the Causeway main road in Westmoreland yesterday, March 31.

The accused is 26-year-old labourer Dwayne Galloway, otherwise called Pull Up, from Mint Road in Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force said: “Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are that, about 8:45PM, lawmen were in the area when they saw Galloway who aroused their suspicion. He was accosted, searched, and one HS2000 9 millimetre pistol, with a magazine containing thirteen 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition, was found in his possession.”

The police subsequently charged Galloway with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

He is to appear before the Western Regional Gun Court at a later date.
