Police have charged one man and are questioning another suspect in relation to the gun murder of Constable Derron Henry, who was attached to the Motorized Patrol Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The man charged on Saturday (June 2) is Omar Ricketts also known as Demus or Alex, a vendor from Chisholm Avenue, Kingston 13.

“Another suspect has since been held. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation,” said the Corporate Communications Unit of the JCF.

Senior Superintendent of Police McArthur Sutherland said detectives are perusing strong leads regarding the other suspects at large, and are determined to have them arrested.

Constable Henry, who was on suspension from the JCF, was shot dead about 3:20am while at a hotel in Kingston 10.

The JCF previously reported that the constable was carrying out security guard duties when he was alerted to a motorcar that had aroused the suspicion of persons.

He reportedly went to make checks and was greeted with gunfire. He received multiple gunshot wounds and was assisted to hospital, where he died.

Another man, who was in the vicinity at the time of the shooting, was also wounded.
