A resident of Anchovy in St James, Oshane Dehaney, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison at hard labour for lottery scamming.

He was sentenced in the St James Parish Court after pleading guilty to breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction)(Special Provisions) Act.

Law enforcers charged Dehaney after they, on 2 July 2016, carried out an anti-lottery scam operation in sections of Anchovy.

During the operation, they searched a house belonging to Dehaney and found several lottery scamming paraphernalia, said the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency.
