The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said its Lottery Scam Task Force arrested a man and woman from Catherine Hall in St James yesterday because they are suspected to be in breach of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) Special Provisions Act.

It explained: “Reports are that, between the hours of 1pm and 4pm, a special operation was carried out along the Brandon Hill main road in St James. During the operation, the driver of a Toyota Premio motorcar was signalled to stop.

“Evidence unearthed during a search of the vehicle suggested that the female and male occupants of the motorcar were involved in lottery scamming,” added the JCF.

It said a warrant was prepared and a follow-up operation carried out at the suspects’ home in Catherine Hall.

That search allegedly unearthed 19 lead sheets, one black Samsung tablet, and two Samsung cellular phones.

Arrangements are being made for the suspects to be interviewed in the presence of their attorney, the JCF further said while noting that investigations are continuing.
