Police said they have released a teen who was taken into custody for the death of his uncle at West Prospect in Bog Walk, St Catherine, adding that they are waiting for the Director of Public Prosecutions to advise how to proceed with the case.

The suspect has been released without charge, said the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The CCU further stated that, based on investigations, it appears the late uncle may have fallen on a knife he allegedly had in his possession during a dispute with the nephew.

Earlier reports alleged that the nephew may have fatally stabbed his 23-year-old uncle Omar Bryan, better known as Banks.

The CCU said allegations are that, on the date of the dispute, the uncle, who was a security guard, beat the nephew severely. That’s because his younger brother and the nephew were involved in a dispute.

The CCU further stated that the nephew, after being beaten, allegedly was heading towards the police station when the uncle again attempted to exact another round of beating, but fell on a knife that was in his possession.

At the time tragedy struck, the disputing parties had just laid one of their close relatives to rest in Bog Walk.
