LLUIDAS VALE: Mary Patience was killed!

A post mortem exercise has revealed that Mary Patience, a resident of Lluidas Vale in St Catherine, died as a result of trauma to the chest, a spokesperson for the bereaved family told The Beacon this evening, October 25.

Shortly before Patience died on September 15, she reportedly was at home trying to quell a stone-throwing dispute between two of her close male relatives.

Reports emerged at the time that one of the stones missed target and hit Patience. However, police stated that the cause of death was not immediately clear because Patience struggled with a heart problem and there was no physical sign of injury on her body.

The police probe, therefore, heavily relied on the result of a post mortem exercise.

The spokesperson for the family, this evening, told The Beacon that the post mortem was conducted on Patience on September 26: “The impact of the stone was the reason for her death,” the spokesperson added.

Asked if the suspect was re-arrested, the spokesperson commented: “The police released him from custody on the same day of the incident [pending the post mortem result]. After the post mortem, we were told he would be arrested and charged. We haven’t heard anything about that as yet.”

When The Beacon contacted the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the police force this evening, its officers said they were unable to ascertain from the Lluidas Vale police whether the suspect was again taken into custody or charged subsequent to the post mortem findings. The CCU officers however promised to conduct further checks.

Patience, who is yet to be laid to rest, worked as a janitor at Lluidas Vale Primary School.
