The Linstead Police in St. Catherine is probing an apparent home invasion in which a woman was chopped to death and her husband wounded and hospitalized in serious condition.

The deceased is 63-year-old Murdeline Sullivan, pictured above.

The attack happened a few hours before daybreak in the rural community of Buxton Town in Wakefield, not far from Linstead.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force said: “Reports from the Linstead Police are that, about 1AM, Murdeline and her husband were sleeping when they heard a sound outside and her husband went to make checks.

“The husband was allegedly attacked, and received injuries to his face. He raised an alarm and the perpetrator escaped. His wife was later found inside their home with chop wounds all over her body. Both were assisted to the hospital, where Murdeline was pronounced dead,” the JCF added.

It noted that investigations are ongoing.

In the meantime, area residents said the suspect is a rapist who also allegedly attacked another woman last week, leaving her hospitalized.
