LINSTEAD: Man freed days after being charged for nightclub death
January 10, 2019The licensed firearm holder charged for the recent death of Niguel ‘Neron’ Beason in a nightclub in Linstead, St Catherine, was freed when he made his first appearance in court yesterday, January 9.
The man set free is 56-year-old trailer driver Averton Roy, otherwise called Cush.
He is from August Town district in Bog Walk, St Catherine, as well as Canada.
The police Corporate Communications Unit told The Beacon this afternoon that the licensed firearm holder was freed after a footage, obtained from surveillance cameras in the night club, showed that he acted in self-defence.
The incident happened about 2:15am on 31 December 2018 at Club Lavish in Linstead.
Police stated that the late Beason and the licensed firearm holder were involved in an argument before Beason was shot dead.
Beason, who is pictured above, is from Rose Berry in Manchester, England, as well as Wallen Housing Scheme in Linstead. He was visiting the island at the time of his demise.
