Deputy Mayor of Mandeville Ervin Facey, who is also a councillor of People’s National Party (PNP), is among three persons who have resigned from their positions in the Manchester Municipal Corporation amid allegations of breaches in approval procedures.

Facey is councillor for the Spur Tree Division in the Manchester North West constituency, where Mikael Phillips is member of parliament.

Mayor of Mandeville Donovan Mitchell announced the resignations today, June 5.

The PNP, which controls the municipal corporation, said: “[The resignation] follows payment for work in the parish for which a cheque was disbursed before the voucher was approved by the requisite signatories.”

It further stated that the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation has called in the police to investigate the matter.

“Mayor Mitchell wishes to restate the corporation’s commitment to transparency, and says every effort will be made to ensure that the integrity of the corporation is maintained,” the PNP further said.

Details of the alleged breaches have not been disclosed.
