While indicating that its officers are searching for robbers who struck at a supermarket this morning, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said residents of some Manchester communities should be on the lookout for strangers or untoward happenings at this time.

“The police are making an urgent appeal for residents of May Day in Manchester and surrounding communities such as Knockpatrick, Old England, Albion, Sunset and Hillside to be on the lookout for any strangers or untoward happenings in their community,” the JCF said.

It added: “The appeal is being made as the police believe a group of men who robbed a supermarket in May Day in the parish about 7:30am on Sunday (January 27) may be hiding in one of the communities. A motor car that was being driven by the suspects was found abandoned in May Day shortly after the incident.”

The JCF further stated that, if anything unusual or any strange individual is observed, persons should immediately call the police 119 emergency number or 811. Persons may also contact the Mandeville Police at 876-961-5538 or the Newport Police at 876-965-7253.
