The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said its officers in St James and Hanover have removed two illegal guns and a number of assorted rounds of ammunition from the nation’s streets.

The first seizure took place at Gordon Crescent in Granville, St James, on Wednesday, October 10. Officers were conducting an operation at that location about 7:40am when they found one M16 rifle, with a magazine containing thirty 5.56 rounds of ammunition.

The second find happened between 10am and 4pm in Chester Castle, Hanover – also on Wednesday. The JCF stated that its officers, on a special operation, searched an unfinished concrete structure and found a .37 revolver and four .37 rounds of ammunition in a bag, which also contained four masks.

No one was taken into custody in relation to the seizures, the JCF said, adding that investigations are continuing.
