The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said it has ‘identified’ a suspect in relation to the murder of eight-year-old Shantae Skyers, whose body was found today among rubble in an area of St Andrew known as Blue Hole.

Shantae, who went missing on Thursday (April 11) is a resident of Sterling Castle Heights in St Andrew.

The JCF said a search party, led by the St Andrew North Police, found the body. The scores of searchers also included the Caribbean Search Centre, the Canine Division, and the Jamaica Defence Force.

The police, relatives and residents of the girl’s district had been searching several sites in the community since April 12, without success.

The JCF also previously published a ‘missing person’ report, seeking public assistance in locating the child.

It, in the meantime, stated that, as the investigation transitions into a murder probe, personnel from the Community Safety and Security Branch – who had been giving support to the family since the child disappeared, have been joined by the Victim Support Unit to deliver a new phase of intervention.
