The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said detectives assigned to its Border Security Branch arrested and charged a man under the Dangerous Drugs Act at Sangster International Airport in St James yesterday, June 14.

He is 58-year-old Ian Mowbray from Birmingham, England.

He was charged with Possession of Ganja, Dealing in Ganja, and Attempting to Export Ganja.

The JCF said: “Reports are that, about 2:20 pm, Mowbray checked in to board a flight destined to Brussels. A canine detected irregularity in the chute area, and his luggage was escorted to the gate area where it was searched.”

The luggage was found to contain a false compartment, which allegedly had a package containing ganja weighing eight ounces.

Mowbray is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Thursday, June 21.
