Another young man has been found murdered in the Lluidas Vale police area of St Catherine.

The body, which has at least one gunshot wound to the head, was discovered along the main road between Lluidas Vale and Point Hill, in cane-fields owned by Worthy Park Sugar Estate.

The deceased, who is of dark complexion, appears to be in his late 20s. He is clad in a pair of white sneakers, white merino, brown belt, gray jeans, as well as a black T-Shirt with a gray design on the front.

Residents of Lluidas Vale who spoke with Jamaica Beacon so far said the young man doesn’t look familiar.

It appears he was murdered overnight.

The discovery of the body this morning happened just over a week after another young man was found near Tydixon – not far from where the second body has been found.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force, in relation to that first case, had said: “The body appears to be in the late twenties and is of brown complexion, slim build, and about 170 centimetres (5 feet 7 inches) long… It was clad in a white T-shirt, short multi-coloured pants, and had multiple tattoos. One [of those tattoos] is a picture of a female on the right side of the chest. The letters IMAN are also written across the left fingers.”

The Lluidas Vale police area – covering places such as Top Hill, Worthy Park, Pennington, Juan-de Bolas and Tydixon – has been under a state of public emergency as part of the general St Catherine North Police Division.

Residents of the once peaceful Lluidas Vale are in shock about the spate of shootings, robberies and even murders within the last few months.

One area resident, Omar Newton, was shot and killed while another man was shot and wounded during a robbery at a bar in Top Hill on January 13. A teenager from Linstead has been charged in relation to this incident, which was committed by three persons.

A goods truck, in the meantime, was shot up a few weeks ago on the Worthy Park main road.

Two police officers were shot – one seriously – during a robbery on April 22 at a business establishment that a Chinese couple operates in the Lluidas Vale town centre. It was the third time that the said business was being robbed within months.
