A senior citizen is suspected to have committed suicide yesterday at his home on Wild Street in Kingston, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said.

He is 78-year-old Anns Simpson.

The JCF said: “Reports from the Central Police are that, about 5:30am on January 18, Simspon was found by family members hanging from a length of rope from the ceiling in a room and alerted them. The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.”

Investigations are continuing, the JCF added.

Simspon is at least the fourth citizen suspected to have committed suicide locally since the start of the year.

On January 12, twenty-nine-year-old Nordia Markland from Shannon Lloyd Crescent in Clarendon was found hanging from a beam outside her house.
