3 charged for guns in Spanish Town

The Spanish Town Police in St Catherine have arrested and charged three people – including a woman – following the seizure of two pistols and more than 100 assorted rounds of ammunition.

The find was made on St Johns Road in the Spanish Town area yesterday, September 16.

The three accused have been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, as well as unlawful possession of a police ballistic vest.

They are 34-year-old Cliff Bonsearthe who is also known as ‘Shortpeace’, 39-year-old Fitzroy Kelly – otherwise called ‘Zidane’, and 27-year-old Jehnelle Dacosta – all from St Johns Road.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force said reports from the Spanish Town Police are that police and soldiers conducted an intelligence-lead operation in the St Johns Road area about 5:10AM.

The law enforcers said they found one police ballistic vest, one Smith and Wesson 9 millimetre pistol, a homemade firearm along with ninety-two 7.62 millimetre rounds of ammunition, fifteen 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition, and one 5.56 millimetre round of ammunition.
