The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a man has been arrested in relation to the seizure of marijuana valued at some $10 million at a house in the West Cumberland area of Portmore, St Catherine.

Detectives assigned to the JCF’s Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch, today (June 22), seized the marijuana.

The JCF explained: “Reports are that, about 6:30am, a team of officers was conducting operations in the area, where a house was searched and the ganja weighing approximately 2,300 pounds – wrapped in several transparent plastic bags – found inside a room.”

“The illicit drug has an estimated street value of JA$10 million. A motor vehicle, which was seen at the premises, was also seized. One man was taken into custody and will be interviewed in the presence of his attorney prior to formal charges being laid,” added the JCF.

It noted that investigations are ongoing.
