Woman among 3 arrested for gun seized in St Elizabeth

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a woman was among three people arrested for a firearm and several rounds of ammunition, which were seized at Balaclava in St Elizabeth yesterday, September 29.

Reports from the Santa Cruz Police are that a police team carried out an operation at Georges Valley district in the parish between 4 o’clock and 6 o’clock in the morning.

“During the operation, a house was searched and a Colt 9 millimetre pistol, fitted with a magazine containing eight 9 millimetre cartridges, was found hidden under a refrigerator,” the JCF said.

“Three persons – two men and a woman – were arrested in connection with the seizure. Their identities are being withheld at this time.”

This seizure brings to 25, the number of firearms seized for the week. Three hundred and thirty-two assorted rounds of ammunition also have been seized over the seven-day period.
