Clarendon scholar secures 10 CSEC subjects, including nine Grade Ones

If you’ve never heard about Cowley district, located near Kellits in Clarendon, you are reading about it now.

It is the home community of young scholar Alaya Benjamin, who has attained a whopping 10 CSEC subjects, administered by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC).

Alaya earned the best grade possible (Grade One) in nine of the subjects, namely:

  • Mathematics
  • English A
  • Human and Social Biology
  • Physics
  • Physical Education and Sports
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Information Technology
  • Spanish

She got straight ‘A’ Profiles in eight of those subjects – including Mathematics and English A.

Alaya, in the meantime, got a Grade Two in Additional Mathematics.

“When I got my results, I was surprised,” the Clarendon College past-student told The Beacon, adding that she did not expect Grade One in Human and Social Biology as well as Mathematics. “For everything else, I was just proud and overjoyed,” she further declared.

Alaya, a past student of McNie All Age School in Clarendon, wants to become a surgeon.
