Cop arrested after boy dies in crash

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a police constable is in custody following a motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy late yesterday morning, July 5.

The deceased is Tyrese Williams from Clifton district in Portmore, St Catherine.

According to the JCF, the incident happened on the Bernard Lodge main road in St Catherine.

It said: “Reports are that, about 11:30AM, the officer was driving his private motor vehicle along the roadway when Tyrese was hit.

“The teen was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead while being treated. The police constable was subsequently arrested. A file is being prepared and will be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling,” added the JCF.
