October 22, 2018 0 By Horace Mills

It’s now official; Pennington is the football squad that will clash with Juvenile for top prizes in this season’s RumBar/Lluidas Vale Corner League.

The Pennington team, which dons the yellow and blue jersey, edged Blackpool 2-1 in what was an enthralling encounter yesterday (October 21) at the playing field in Lluidas Vale, St Catherine.

Matthew Taylor, who recently was awarded the Golden Boot Award in a similar contest held in Ewarton, put Pennington ahead in the 7th minute of the game.

His teammate, Clyde Johnson, netted the ball in the 50th minute.

Blackpool fought hard for a comeback, but only managed to eke out one goal, courtesy of Kenroy Wallace in the 80th minute of the clash.

Blackpool and All Stars will compete for the third place on Sunday, October 28. On that same date, Pennington and Juvenile will square-off for the main awards and title.

League organizer Jacques Small told The Beacon that the winning team will pocket at least 50,000, the second-place finisher will get $30,000 and the third-place team will earn $20,000.

Teams will also receive trophies, including the Rum Bar Trophy, which will be presented to the winner of the competition.
