Double murder rocks Ocho Rios

Double murder rocks Ocho Rios

August 2, 2019 0 By Horace Mills

The town of Ocho Rios in St Ann has been hard hit by the murder of two well-known members of the entertainment fraternity in the parish.

The deceased are 36-year-old store room supervisor and music producer Marlon Speid – otherwise called Jah Blacks, and 26-year-old shop operator and recording artiste Alwayne Moncrieffe – otherwise called Chippy.

Both men are from Main Street in the Pineapple area of Ocho Rios.

Speid, who owns Lacka Records, produced a number of songs especially for aspiring artistes in and around Pineapple.

One of those aspiring artistes is the late Moncrieffe, who worked persistently over the years to make his name in the music business.

The double murder, in the meantime, happened at a makeshift shop that Moncrieffe inherited from his grandmother who raised him.

Sources told The Beacon that both Moncrieffe and Speid were behind the shop counter on Wednesday night, July 31, when a gunman walked past at least two other persons outside and entered the business establishment.

He allegedly posed as a customer, then shot the two men and escaped.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force, while confirming the incident, did not disclose much information.

It, in a media release, said: “Reports from the Ocho Rios Police are that, about 10PM, a gunman entered a shop and opened gunfire hitting Speid and Moncrieffe. They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.”
