Romario Brown, the tattoo artist who killed homosexual fashion designer Dexter Pottinger in August 2017, has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for manslaughter.

Justice Shelly Williams handed down the sentence in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston today, May 24.

Brown initially was charged with murder, but he pleaded guilty to the lesser offence.

He also pleaded guilty to larceny from the premises and simple larceny; this after he was found in possession of Pottinger’s flat-screen television set, watch, and Honda CR-V motor car.

Brown claimed that he killed Pottinger because, while at Pottinger’s St Andrew home, Pottinger appeared before him naked and with his penis erect. He said he was surprised by the action, and so he used a knife to stab Pottinger 25 times.

In the same month Pottinger was killed, he had posted bail for Brown, who was arrested for possession of two knives.
