Shift student pleased with CXC resultsAugust 30, 2019
Due to its shift system, Port Antonio High School in Portland offers each student an opportunity to sit a maximum six CSEC subjects during their shift time.
Samantha Reid recently sat six and passed all with flying colours.
“I am very pleased with my results because I know I worked extremely hard to pass all my subjects with good grades,” she told The Beacon.
Samantha, who hails from Union district in Hope Bay, attained the following CSEC subjects, which are administered by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC):
- English A – Grade One
- Mathematics – Grade One
- Chemistry – Grade One
- Physics – Grade One
- Biology – Grade One
- Social Studies – Grade Two
Samantha, who wants to become an obstetrician-gynecologist, said she dedicated a lot of time to studying.
“I think I attained such good results in CSEC because I was determined and dedicated, and I also studied a lot because I really wanted to be successful in my exams.”
She does not think six subjects are too few.
“I do not think it limits anyone because, if they want to do more subjects, they could do it on the other shift. I do think I could have passed more subjects if there was more than six subjects per student,” Samantha reasoned.
