The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said its officers in St Ann have arrested and charged a man accused of robbing three students at gunpoint while they walked on a footpath in Brown’s Town in the parish on Thursday, October 3.

Marlon Cunningham, a 21-year-old conductor from Cave Valley and York Castle Drive in St Ann, was charged yesterday.

The JCF said: “According to the Brown’s Town Police, the allegations are that, about 7PM, Cunningham held up and robbed the three students at gunpoint. A report was made and an investigation launched.

“He was arrested during a police operation on October 10. He was then placed on an identification parade and was subsequently charged with Robbery with Aggravation and Illegal Possession of Firearm, after he was pointed out by the complainants,” added the JCF.

Cunningham is scheduled to appear before the St. Ann Parish Court on Monday, October 28.

The students are believed to be from York Castle High School.

A day after the incident, Principal at York Castle High, Raymond Treasure, lamented on social media: “Brown’s Town is getting out of hand. Students are held up daily by robbers. Yesterday, three York Castle students were held up and robbed by a man with a gun. This cannot continue.”
