Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate in St Catherine North West, Newton Amos, participated in a number of projects across the constituency on Labour Day, May 23.

He told The Beacon that his projects included repairs to sections of the Brown’s Town main road in Ewarton, McGrath/Whitehouse main road in the Linstead area, and rehabilitation of the Mount Rosser/Ivy main road in Ewarton.

Amos was also in Lluidas Vale district, where he joined JLP supporters, as well as non-partisan civilians, who cleaned the public playing field.

JLP caretaker for Lluidas Vale Division, Joel Williams, diverted his attention and resources to the playing field after losing the Labour Day project he announced last week. He had announced that he would clean the public cemetery, but, days later, a group including members of the People’s National Party commenced clean-up of the burial site.

Williams later said he would be willing to finish the cemetery work on Labour Day with whoever started it. That, however, did not happen.
